Robert Dwyer for Montana Senate District 37

…On Kids and Education
As a parent, a high quality school system is important to me.  Montana’s students deserve the best education possible to prepare them for the future, and our teachers deserve our support and funding to provide that outstanding education.

…On Energy and Environment
Montana should develop its natural resources in an environmentally responsible way.  We CAN protect the environment, create new jobs, and increase Montana’s tax base and revenues.  We just need to do it.

…On Taxes and Fiscal Responsibility
Montana’s citizens expect and deserve value for their tax dollar.  I will promote rational tax policies and responsible spending.  The State should live within its means, just as its people do.

…On Driving Under the Influence
I will advocate a "ONE STRIKE" law.  We need to send the message that driving under the influence is unacceptable.  My opponent believes the current law, where someone can be arrested FOUR times for DUI before the offense is a felony, is just fine.  I believe four is too many.

It's time to explore other options!  I'll work on a one-strike law to help prevent repeat offenders by looking at alternatives to prison, including confiscating driver's licenses and impounding vehicles after the FIRST offense.  We need to send the message that if you drink and drive, it may be the LAST time you drive for quite awhile.

…On the Second Amendment
Hunting and fishing are a part of Montana life.  I am a strong supporter of the Second Amendment and have been endorsed by both the Montana Shooting Sports Association and the National Rifle Association.  I am the only local legislative candidate endorsed by either group.
